*Maria’s POV*

‘Wow!’ I exclaimed noticing Amy and Julia. ‘You look fabulastic!’
‘Thanks.’ They both smiled. ‘and thank god, there isn’t any alcohol at the prom.’ Julia added, rolling her eyes while smirking.

I was well on my way to my hyper state, which I am always in when there’s a party, hence the word ‘fabulastic’, and that’s why they usually not allow me to drink that much, ‘cause I‘ll be too wild, but I always manage to drink a few beers behind their backs somehow.

‘There probably will be someone bringing booze.’ I winked at her.
‘But you aren’t getting any!’ she winked back.
‘Don’t worry. I will.’ I assured her in a matter-of-factly tone.
‘Oh yeah? Not with me on the watch.’ Tom butted in.
I looked at him at his sudden comment, and I'm almost sure I saw him blush, but he turned away before I could see him properly.
Everyone was quiet for a while.
‘I wish someone would’ve asked me to the prom.’ I sighed breaking the silence.
‘Me too.’ Hannah joined my sighing.
‘Oi!’ Dougie and Tom shouted in unison.
‘No offence boys, but you only asked us because nobody else did. Remember?’

*Flashback*

‘Hannah, there’s four days until the prom, and not one guy has even looked at us. Why?’ I asked dramatically while putting my tray on the table, sitting down and burying my head in my hands.
‘I understand why nobody has looked at me, but you? I don’t understand why you haven’t got a date yet.’ She sighed
‘Hannah!’ I said sternly ‘You know, as well as I do, that just two months ago every boy in school was drooling over you, but now it’s like.. we’re both invisible.’
‘What are you sitting here and mocking about?’ Dougie interrupted, joining the round table, followed by Tom, Amy and Harry.
‘It’s just, we haven’t got any dates yet, and we only have four days left to be asked in. Who ever came up with this only-boy-ask-girl idea this year, should be punished. Big time!’ I groaned.
‘Well, coincidence is, that me and Doug actually haven’t got dates as well, so we could take you, if you want?’ Tom suggested, looking up from his plate full of French fries and ketchup, he carelessly threw into his mouth once in a while when he wasn‘t playing with it.
I looked at Hannah expecting her to instantly say yes, but instead she was staring at her plate avoiding Dougie’s eyes. I decided to help her.
I shrugged. ‘Why not? As long as you won’t bring any fries!’
Smirking, he pointed one of the fries, covered in ketchup, at me. ‘You better get used to it. It’s the only thing I eat.’
‘So, I take it as you’re my date?’
‘Looks like it.’
‘So Han-Pan. Looks like you’re going with Dougie, eh?’ I nudged her in the side.
She raised her head, and smiled. ‘Yeah. It does.’

*End of flashback*

‘But we still asked you.’ Dougie pouted.
‘Technically, Tom asked us.’ Hannah stated ‘But, yes, it was very nice of you.’ She smiled widely.
‘I can’t wait to see which band they got this year!’ I beamed, completely out of subject.
‘I hope it’s one of them Rock’n’roll bands. You know like the one in Grease!’ Danny grinned.
‘Sure, and then we’ll all run onto the dance floor and dance every cheesy move they did back then.’ Harry smirked with sarcasm written all over it.
‘That’d be soooo cool’ Danny almost screamed.
We all just looked at him and rolled our eyes.

The limo pulled up beside the decorated doors which led into the, usually, smelly gym, but not today.
Today, the gym smelled nicely of some sort of cinnamon.

*Hannah's POV*

As we stepped out of the limo, each of the guys linked their arms with their dates.
I found it a little funny that I was taller than Dougie, but hey, I didn’t care.
As we walked into the gym, we gasped. It had never looked so, well, clean!
Red silk was draped around the room from the ceiling, the floor covered with wooden panels,
tables with neatly arranged vases of roses stood around the edge of the hall, leaving space to dance in the middle and the smell of cinnamon drifted through the air.
“Woah.” Said Juulz as she walked in, her and Danny’s still arms entwined.
Everyone else still seemed to have contact – Amy and Harry were now holding hands and Tom had his arm around Riles – yet me and Dougie seemed to let go of each other once we entered the hall.
Truth is, I’m slightly uncomfortable with being here with Dougie tonight, as I have had a crush on him since... well I don’t remember,
and having him here only as a sympathy date is kind of embarrassing.
“Hannah?” Amy said waving her hand in front of my face “Welcome back” She laughed as I finally turned to face her.
“Sorry, daydreaming.” I laughed following her to where the others had found a table.
“Drinks anyone?” Tom asked as I reached the table.
“Oh yes, please.” I said, chorused by almost identical responses.
“I’ll help.” Harry said standing up. “Somehow, I don’t think it’s possible to carry eight drinks on your own.” he laughed.
“Oh, I think it is.” Tom grinned as he and Harry walked over to the punch, Tom trying to balance 8 cups in his hands,
and we laughed at him failing miserably.
“Spill any down you and I won’t dance with you, Thomas Fletcher.” Maria threatened across the hall, and Tom smirked at her, nearly spilling a cupful down himself.
I sat in the spare seat in between Danny and Dougie.
Dougie shifted uncomfortably in his chair.
I don’t know what to do, do I move away or do I move closer?
I just sat there, confused, until Tom and Harry walked back over
“Couldn’t do it?” I asked.
“Nahh, it was the shape of them, if they were smaller...” He said as he placed four cups down, as did Harry as we all laughed.
“Denial.” Danny laughed as music began to play.
“Ohhh, let’s dance!” Said Juju, jumping to her feet, grabbing Danny’s hand as she did.
Amy did the same to Harry and soon they were dancing, oddly, on the dance floor.
Tom looked to Maria.
“Why not.” She laughed as they joined the others.
“Ermm, do... do you wanna dance?” Dougie said quietly.
“Do you?” I asked. He looked at me and smiled.
“Sure, I’ve got nothing better to do.” he smirked.
“Shut up you!” I said hitting his arm laughing.
“Oi, I’ll get you.”
“If you can catch me.” I laughed making my way carefully, as fast as I could, to the dance floor.
He soon caught up with me, hiding behind Danny and Juju. Damn these shoes I thought.
“You’re in for it now.” He smiled evilly at me. He grabbed me, just as a slow song began to play.
“You gotta dance now.” I laughed putting my arms around his neck.
“Argh, I hate slow songs.” He moaned.
“Oh, shut up and enjoy it.” I laughed and winked over at Maria, who looked very comfortable with Tom.
